  1. Welcome Back Year 2

    We have had a great two days together in year 2. The children have settled in really well and are getting to know their new classroom routines.

    We have had a busy afternoon drawing self portraits so look out for our new display coming very soon…

  2. Japanese Art Work

    Today we have been busy painting Japanese blossom trees.

    Look out for our finished pieces at the Art Exhibition on Thursday 28th June.

  3. Traditional Japanese games

    We have been busy playing Japanese games and making our very own origami bookmarks.

    We played a game of Keidoro (a game of tag with a twist) and Oni Gokko (Japanese hide and seek).




  4. World Week

    In Year 2 we have been busy learning about Japan.

    We have been using atlases to locate Japan on a world map, researching and creating our own fact pages, playing traditional Japanese games and making our own origami bookmarks.



  5. Into the woods

    Today we have been busy mixing different shades of green to create our new front covers for this term.

    The children are extremely confident using the powder paints now and have produced some great final pieces today.

    Keep an eye out for the finished product. I will update you once they are completed.

  6. Find out what we have been up to this week

    Another busy week in year 2.

    On Monday we had a session with Phil who is going to be our tennis coach for the next 6 weeks.

    We have been busy measuring objects around the classroom in Maths.

    We have also been hard at work in English this week learning about traditional tales.


    Don’t forget your PE kits on Monday and if you have earrings please ensure that these are removed.

  7. Homework

    Please continue to complete the revision packs handed out before half term and return by next Thursday.

    New homework will be given out next week with spellings.

    For those of you that have completed your revision packs don’t forget to log on to your Timetables Rockstars account and visit for more Maths and English activities.

  8. Grendon Hall

    We have had a wonderful two days at Grendon Hall and I’m sure your children will tell you all about it (if they are not already asleep).

    All the children were amazing throughout the whole residential so you should be very proud of them.

    We would like to share some of the photographs we took over the past two days and I look forward to catching up with your tomorrow morning.

    We we very lucky to have beautiful weather so we spent a lot of our time outside playing games, visiting the church, posting our postcards and playing in the village play area.

  9. Easter Egg Hunt

    This morning the Easter Bunny arrived at Abington Vale Primary School and set the year 2 children a challenge.

    We all took part in an Easter egg hunt with a twist. We had 6 eggs to find around the playground but on each egg was a maths questions that we had to solve. The Easter Bunny also left us some treats to collect along the way.











    It was a great success and the children had a fantastic morning.

  10. Busy Busy Busy

    We have had a very busy afternoon in Year 2. Lots of cutting, sticking and being creative to make the perfect  cards ready for Sunday.
