  1. Rubble and Chase’s Picnic

    March 9, 2018 by misstimmins

Today we explored fractions by helping Rubble and Chase share the food in their picnic basket.

We started by sharing the food out equally by exploring fractions of shapes and quantities whilst working practically using the picnic resources.

The Rubble gave us another message that two of his friends were coming to join him so we had to think about how we could share the picnic between 4 people.

    February 7, 2018 by misstimmins

Today we had a visit from a member of the NSPCC team. A lady came to talk to us about keeping ourselves safe and who we could talk to if we were feeling unsafe. We will be carrying out a sponsored circuit in one of our PE lessons after half term to raise money for the charity. You will find sponsor forms in book bags tonight. Sponsor forms need to be returned to school on the 22nd February.

    February 5, 2018 by misstimmins

Today the children were in role as guards strolling the battlements of Elsinore Castle. The children listened to some narration and reacted to what they heard. It was a fantastic lesson and the children did an amazing job.

    February 5, 2018 by misstimmins

This morning we wrapped up warm and braved the cold weather to solve division problems using a number line. The children worked in pairs to draw their own number lines and find out the answer to a range of division questions by counting in multiples of either 2s, 5s, 10s or 3s.

  8. Castles across the UK

    January 29, 2018 by misstimmins

This afternoon we were busy locating castles across the UK.

We matched the castles to their locations and then found them on a map of the UK

    Can you remember…

The four countries and their capital cities?

Where would you find Edinburgh castle?

Can you name any of the other castles we were looking at today?

  9. Warwick Castle

    January 10, 2018 by misstimmins

We had a fantastic time visiting Warwick Castle today.

The children were able to share their prior knowledge of castles and identify the different features as we walked around the grounds.

We started off our morning by visiting the Time Tower. In the Time Tower we found out some really interesting information about the history of the castle.

Before we had our lunch we walked up the mound and were lucky enough to watch the bird of prey show before walking to have our lunch.

After lunch we walked along the ramparts and looked over the battlements and through the arrow slits.

We then walked up a lot of steps to get to the top of the tower. The only way down was walking back down the hundreds of stairs. All the children were extremely brave.

We finished off our day by visiting the castle rooms.

Thank you to all the parent helpers today 🙂

What was your favourite part of the day?

  10. King Robert Returns

    January 8, 2018 by misstimmins

This morning we worked in groups to create a living diagram of a castle.

As we were rehearsing King Robert suddenly returned.

He enjoyed watching us perform our living diagrams and was very impressed when we shared our expert knowledge with him.

What can you tell me about the part of the castle you have been researching?
